This new class will begin with the Log Cabin Quilt Block, one of North Americas most beloved and recognized quilt patterns. In traditional Log Cabin blocks, one half is made of dark fabrics and the other half light. A red center symbolized the hearth of home and a yellow center represented a welcoming light in the window. The log cabin quilt block design is a timeless classic!

We will begin with a small project (table runner or tote bag) and then make a log cabin quilt. The class will also introduce some variations to the traditional block.

  • Magic Tiles Quilting Class

A Stained Glass Quilt is one that is designed to have the look of stained glass, from simple to intricate. When learning how to make a stained glass quilt, one of the most important parts is the fabric. You will want to have black or another very dark fabric to serve as the outlines to all of your stained glass panels. Also brightly coloured or bright solid fabric to serve as the stained glass windows. Making a stained glass Quilt isn't that difficult. With good instructions even a beginner can do one.

  • Bargello Quilt Class

A bargello quilt looks difficult with its intricate quilt pattern and wave-like pattern, but is perfect for beginner quilters. It is made from long 2 1/2” strips of fabrics sewn together, shifted 90 degrees, cut apart and sewn together again. The way you sew the strips back together again creates movement in the design. If you can sew a straight line, you can make a bargello quilt! It is a great technique for any skill level – from beginner to experienced quilters. The key to making a bargello quilt is the fabric selection. You want to make sure you have lights and darks to make the movement in the design. Once you make one, you’ll want to make another to see what happens!
