Our children’s and youth programs are perfect for those who are interested in learning how to sew and quilt.

Kids cAN SEW-Clothing & accessories

Confident Beginner Class

Instructor: Jill

Saturday 9:00-11:30am

Ages: 9+yrs

The “Kids can Sew-Clothing and Accessories” program is a beginner sewing class that meets once a month on a Saturday. Each class participants will learn a new combination of sewing techniques through the creation of a basic accessories and clothing projects.

This is a Beginner Level program for those who are new to sewing. Sewing machine knowledge and/or experience is not a requirement for this class as the instructor will be covering all the basics.

Cost: $45 per class or $200 for 5 classes

  • Nov. 7 - “Cozy Polar Poncho”

  • Dec. 5 - “Merry Christmas Pillow Case”

  • Jan. 9 - “Helpful Sewing Caddy”

*If you do not have a sewing machine your youth can bring to class, the Algonquin Sewing Center has sewing machine available for rent at the cost of $10 per rental. Please let the staff know when you register for programming is you will require a sewing machine rental

Kids cAN SEW

Beginner Class

Instructor: Cynthia & Ev

Saturday 12:00-2:00pm

Ages: 8+yrs

The “Kids can Sew” beginner sewing program meets once a month on a Saturday. Each class participants will learn a new sewing technique and create a basic project using their newly learned skill.

This is a Beginner Level program for those who are completely new to sewing & quilting. Sewing machine knowledge and/or experience is not a requirement for this class as the instructor will be covering all the basics. Participants must be 8 years of age or older to sign up for this program.

Cost: $45 per class or $200 for 5 classes

  • Oct. 3 - “Trick or Treat Bags” with Cynthia

  • Nov. 7 - “Tulip Bag” with Ev

  • Dec. 5 - “Fabric Ornament” with Cynthia

Kids can Quilt

Confident beginner class

Instructor: Cynthia & Ev

Saturday 2:30-5:00pm

Ages: 9+yrs

The “Kids can Quilt” confident beginner program meets once a month on a Saturday. Each class participants will learn a variety of quilting techniques through small quilt based projects.

This is a Confident Beginner program for those who have already participated in quilting program(s) in the past and/or have previously sewing or quilting experience but are looking to expand their knowledge and techniques. Participants must be 9 years of age or older to sign up for this program and have some previous sewing experience.

Cost: $45 per class or $200 for 5 classes

  • Oct. 3 - “Applique Aprons” with Cynthia

  • Nov. 7 - “Nine Patch Denim Bag” with Ev

  • Dec. 5 - “Fabric Ornaments” with Cynthia

  • Jan. 9 - “Quilted Journal Cover” with Ev
