NEW -Block of the Month

(in class sewing)

This delicately coloured queen size quilt has been designed with the “Au Naturel” collection as a 9 class (done in 4 months) block-of-the-month program. The quilt features five different 12 inch blocks (one coloured two ways) and 2 pieced setting triangle blocks. The last class will be for sashing, borders and finishing. Size: 93.5” X 93.5”

We will be meeting on alternate Tuesdays from 11:00-4:00. You will be sewing each months blocks here at the store with the teacher’s directions and guidance. Pattern instructions will be provided each month.

The fabric kits are available to purchase at the store for $349.95+ tax (Regularly $399.99)and can be purchased anytime before the class starts.

The classes will be $50+ tax per month and can be paid each month or $200+tax for the whole course.

Classes are scheduled to begin Tuesday April 16th continue biweekly.

NEW Kids Can Crochet Class

In this 6 week class, students will learn the basics of crocheting, preparing them for larger and more complex projects. We will introduce your child to crochet in a fun, accepting environment. Not only is crocheting a fun craft that kids can enjoy, but it also teaches them important skills like hand-eye coordination, patience, improves fine motor skills, enhances focus & concentration and helps build self esteem.

No experience is necessary; this is a course for beginners. We will meet on 6 consecutive Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm starting January 9- February 27. A crochet hook and yarn will be included in the registration fee.

Next Beginner session starts from 4:00-5:00 Thursday April 18th - June 9 (no class May 2 or 9)

NEW Intermediate class - 4:00-5:00 Tuesday April 16- June 8 (no classes Apr 30 or May 7)

Participants must be 9+ years & up. Open to adults as well as youth. Space is limited, so sign up early.

Cost: $50.00+ tax, includes a ball of yarn and a crochet hook.

MONTHLY HAPPENINGS

EVENING Sit & Stitch with Joanne

This is a once a month ‘drop-in’ for anyone interested in hand stitching, wool applique and a little socializing. Bring your own project or pick up a wool pattern or kit at the store. Joanne would be happy to assist or teach you how to do wool applique.

Cost:$5.00 + Tax each day. Pay when you arrive.

Block of the Month. with Karen

This class meets monthly on the 4th Tuesday every month.

Embroidery Class with Helen

This monthly class is your chance to give that embroidery machine a workout! Bring your own project, something you might be nervous to try at home, and Helen will guide you through.

This class meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 10:00-4:00. Cost is $35+ Tax Bring Your Own Supplies.

  • Kids Can Sew Class

    Students will begin learning all about the sewing machine while making a different project each month. This class will run from September to June, on the first Saturday of every month. Parents are welcome to attend with their child to help them and be a part of the learning experience. ***VERY POPULAR CLASS*** sign up early, classes fill up fast.

    Cost: $45.00 + tax each class or sign up for 5 classes for $200.00 + tax. Includes all materials required. Basic sewing kit is needed.

  • Saturday Sew Day

    Have a project that needs finishing? Come out to a store Sew Day. The classroom will be open to anyone needing extra time to complete any of the projects you started in a class or workshop. Also for anyone wanting a bigger, bright space to work on your projects then you have at home. This is not a teaching class. No preregistration is required, Drop In any of the days listed below.

  • Quilted Jacket

    Dawna has shown this jacket at a few quilting events and people have asked for a class to make it. This jacket uses the quilt-as-you-go method. All you need is a sweatshirt that will be cut up and used for your base to sew to and some fabric strips.

  • Jelly Roll Rug

    Make a rug or placemats using this easy technique. It is made using 2 1/2” strips of cotton and batting, sewing it together using a wide zig-zag stitch. Your rug is machine washable! Just place it in a large mesh bag, wash on gentle cycle.

Store Retreat spring 2024

Our Spring retreat is fast approaching. If you have pre-registered to attend, please call the store or drop in to pay to confirm your spot. If you are interested in attending and are not on the pre-registered list, give us a call and we can add your name to the waiting list. We ask if you can pay by April 6 so we can fill any spots that open up.

The retreat is running Friday April 26- Sunday April 28 at the Silver Threads Seniors Centre (1163 Victoria St, Petawawa) in the lower hall.

You come and go during the day as you like and go home to your own bed at night. Lunch and Dinner is included, as well as coffee, tea and bottled water.
