Whether you’re a seasoned sewing pro or are just strating out we have a class that’s just right for you!

The Algonquin Sewing Center is looking for individuals to join our creative team as workshop leaders & class instructors

— We are specifically looking for individuals who are able to teach;

  • Beginner Quilting Programs,

  • Garment Sewing,

  • Youth Sewing Instructors

  • *NEW-Upcycled Jean Project

    This is an introductory course to all things jean. Participants will have the opportunity to make several upcycled jean projects in this class.

    Instructor: EV

    Experience: Intermediate

    Cost: 110+hst+materials (some supplies included in cost of course)

    Date: Wednesday May 7-June 11

    Time: 2:00-5:00pm

  • EVENING Sit & Stitch

    This is a ‘drop-in’ for anyone interested in hand stitching, wool applique and a little socializing. This event runs on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Bring your own project or pick up a wool pattern or kit at the store.

    Time: 6:00-8:00pm

  • Beginners Quilting

    You will learn all the terminology & fundamentals of quilting in this course by completing small projects, such as table topper, wall hangings and tote bags.

    Experience: Beginner to Advanced

    Cost: $100+hst+supplies

    Date: Monday Apr. 14-June 2

    Time: 1:00-4:00pm

  • Embroidery

    This monthly class is your chance to give that embroidery machine a workout! Bring your own project, or something you might be nervous to try at home, and we will help you through it. Students must supply their own embroidery machine, and should be familiar with it's basic function.

    Cost: $40+hst+supplies

  • "Bring Your Own Project" class

    Do you have lots of UFO’s that never seem to get finished. Come in and join other quilters to share ideas, sew and have fun!, A teacher will be available to you at each class to answer any questions and help with your projects.

    Experience: Beginners to Advanced

    Cost: $100+hst+supplies

    Date: Wednesday Apr. 9-May 14

    Time: 10:00am-1:00pm

  • "Bring your own project" Beginner Class

  • EVENING Quilting Class

    In this class you will learn new skills to develop your understanding & abilities of quilting. Specifically this class will be focusing on scrapy quilts for this session. Time to use up all that extra fabric!

    Cost: $100+tax+supplies

    Dates: Thursday Apr. 14-May 26(no class May 19)

    Time: 6:00- 9:00pm

  • Kids Can Sew

    This class is for children and youth who are interested in learning all the basics of sewing on a machine through a variety of small projects.

    A sewing machine is required for this class, if you do not have one we have borrow machine available.

    Instructor: Wendy

    Experience: Beginner 9+yrs

    Cost: $45 per class or $200 for 5 classes

    Includes all supplies & materials for projects.

    Date: Saturday Feb. 1, Mar. 1, Apr. 5, May. 3, & Jun. 7

    Times: 10:00am-1:00pm

They are not exact examples of projects that participants will be creating while in class, nor are they created using fabrics the Algonquin Sewing Center can guarantee will be available in store for purchase at the time of any chosen class.

Block of the Month

Block of the Month ⋆

  • Holiday Houses

    This series is designed to create beautiful hangings for yourself or as gifts. Finished size individually as 12" x 14 1/2" wall hangings. Each pattern includes complete and clear instructions with diagrams and a full sized positioning sheet for assembly. This is a fantastic project to embellish with all your favorite sequins, decorative buttons and trims.

    Cost: $120.00+hst (full year), or $10.00+hst (per session)

  • Christmas Cheer

    Make the season bright with a beautiful wool-applique quilt that will spark your favourite Christmas memories as you make the 15 nostalgic wool-applique blocks. Each month we will work on a different block.
